Come Visit Jerusalem

Come and be inspired by the world’s most sacred places. Come and be awed by historical, architectural and archaeological wonders. Come and enjoy fun-filled family activities. Come see a place like no other on earth. Come see Jerusalem.

The Old City

You can’t visit Jerusalem without spending time in its historical Old City. Here, you can tour the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the hallowed site of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus Christ. Visit one of the oldest and most religious spots in the world, the Temple Mount, and the nearby Dome of the Rock. A must see is the Western Wall, a 2,000 year old remnant of the Jewish Temple. Also referred to as the Wailing Wall, this site is regarded as a highly sacred place by the many Jews who have prayed here for centuries. Besides historical sites, you will also find various restaurants, shops and markets such as the Arab market, where you can bargain for crafts and unique treasures.

Other significant sites outside the Old City that should not be missed include Hezekiah’s Tunnels, the Garden of Gethsemane and the City of David Visitors Center, which marks the place where King David first established Jerusalem.

Museums

If you like museums, the city offers a treasure trove, including the Israel Museum that houses a vast collection of archaeological artifacts and art dating from prehistorical times to present day. Prepare to be emotionally stirred by the exhibits in the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Museum.

The Jerusalem Theater

Here at Israel’s largest arts and culture venue, you can catch a theatrical, musical, or dance performance. The theater also hosts festivals and programs for children.

Biblical Zoo

Nestled among scenic mountains, you can spend hours here viewing a multitude of animal species that are mentioned in the Bible.

Bloomfield Science Museum

Get a great overview of the different aspects of science through fun, interactive exhibits. Learn about optical illusions, the power of water, or how electricity works. Enjoy thrill and adventure with roller coasters and other rides all while learning about the law of physics.

The Jerusalem Botanical Gardens

Stroll through various gardens that represent each of the ecosystems of the world’s continents. See thousands of plants and flowers. Visit the Butterfly House in summer and learn all about butterflies. Kids can travel around the gardens on the Flower Train.

In addition to the main attractions, Jerusalem also offers many fun family activities such as miniature golf, bowling, horse riding, paintball, go karting, and swimming pools in the hot summer months.

Touring Jerusalem

Walking is a fun way to see Jerusalem. Since the city is built in the mountains, the humidity level is lower, but be prepared for some occasional hill climbing. Another way to see Jerusalem is by arranging a cycling tour that takes you to all the main attractions as well as lesser known sites. You can also see the city by taking the Jerusalem City Tour hop-on hop-off bus.

Hotel Accommodation

Attracting flocks of visitors yearly, Jerusalem offers plenty of accommodation options. If you are looking for something on a budget or close to main attractions, the Old City area offers a diverse range of hotels and religious hospices. If you prefer a larger hotel with ample amenities, try out the modern accommodations in West Jerusalem.
